True Friends

This year has been a very commemorative year. Sure there have been many raspy situations, but thankfully my beloved friends have always been there for me. They have shown much empathy towards me, and they have proven their fidelity many times. They have proven themselves worthy of my confidence, therefore they have  earned the right to be called "True Friends". So now I would like to give my appropriate thanks to all of them. I love you all and thanks for the wonderful moments and memories we share. You are all the reasons of why I know God wants me to be happy. <3 U ALL x)

Game Over

Game addiction is a flaw many teenagers have since the teen that spends most of his life playing games will miss momentous milestones in his life. He or she will not be able to develop an amicable relation with anyone because he or she will lack the capacity to socialize outside of his "game world". Though it may result hard, there are ways to recover from such addiction. The most prudent thing to do is to abet the act of socializing and temperate the amount of time the teen spends playing. Once the teenager does this, he or she will be liberated from his game addiction.

Siege of London

There stood the general on the top of the hill vigilant of the massacre that was about to occur. A hoard of english heavy cavalry threatened a french line of infantry. The general had ordered their retreat, but those incompetent soldiers stood their place thinking their number would win against the force of a cavalry charge. A reckless decision on their part, nevertheless the cavalry swooped the soldiers into the air making the line violate formation and scatter with no success. The english rounded the remaining french soldiers who were at the end forced to capitulate. The general, with his army cut in half, retreated into the city. The siege lasted three more days, and at the end the city of London was under english control.

Dear Santa;

Before Christmas arrives this year, I must ponder on the gifts I want to procure. I would like to have a mammoth sized Yoda plush, an enormous Star Wars poster, and any other peculiar objects related to Star Wars. I really hope I can gather enough money to buy all of these things. Once I have all of them, I'll be exultant for the rest of the year.

Monsters: Mythical Creatures or Real Beings

I was in my chamber when the clock marked midnight. I was reading a quaint volume about the monsters of yore. As I read the book, I pondered the details it presented about each and every monster that has been inscribed in history. Though the monsters the book presented were obviously fantastic, I couldn't help but wonder if they could have actually existed before humans could record events in writing. So, I decided I would search the internet for information on these dauntless creatures with dross extensions and sullen personalities. Unfortunately, I was too exhausted that I preferred to wait until the morrow.

*I spoke with the teacher about the internet crash which caused the postponing of my post.

Writing an Introductory Paragraph

Though writing an introductory paragraph can be exasperating, there are some steps to take in order to elude the difficulty it brings. The first step is to begin with a hook. Though it does not need to be confined to starting with an interrogation, the easiest way to attract the readers attention is using a question. The following step is, to add background information concerning the topic of discussion. This background information will serve as a transition into the next step, which is the thesis statement. The thesis statement presents the arguments the author will use to lobby the readers point of view. Once the introductory paragraph is finished, the author will begin his or her body paragraphs. These paragraphs will validate the arguments proposed by simply using excerpts from trustworthy sources such as articles, official documents and many other sources.

Blog 02.0011.10.24

I guess it is inevitable for me to write this blog if I want the points it's worth. My negligence to write it would mean one less point for my English class, hence the only logical thing to do is to inscribe in this post what my mind comes up with. Though most of this will be improvised, I think it is a very shrewd plan that will mitigate the difficulty of choosing an interesting topic. It may not be an immense paragraph, nor is it a typical one, but I hope it will make do to avert the current situation. As we are already concluding this minute post, I wish to end it with a very random word. BANANA!

The Darth Lord

In almost every movie there is an evil character, that is dauntless with a sullen personality, that wants his heinous plans to succeed. Darth Vader (your-father) and Lord Voldemort (he-who-must-not-be-named) are such characters. Both have an ugly physiognomy and countless lineaments in their faces. Though very similar in their dark ways, they can be distinguished. Vader for his massive endued force capabilities, and Voldemort for his irksome and constant attempts to kill Harry Potter. There is much debate in deciding which character has more power, who is more heinous, and who would hypothetically win in a battle.

3:) D.U.I. 3:)

In 2008, out of approximately 37,261 fatalities in the U.S.A., 37% of them were caused by driving under the influence (D.U.I) of alcohol. Driving under the influence can have many negative effects, for example, you can get arrested and fined. Another negative effect this has is that it raises the chance of detrimental crashes occurring. In many cases, conductors who have been in a crash related to alcohol abuse have received physical damage such as paralysis and fervent third degree burns. In extreme cases, many individuals did not survive the crash and died either slowly or immediately. So as you just read, D.U.I is a very pernicious thing to do that not only affects the person under the influence but the people involved in the crash.

*
2008 - National DUI / Drunk Driving Statistics
  • Official statistics for people arrested nationally for drunk driving / DUI (Driving under the Influence) not yet known

  • 10,684 fatal accidents nationally where at least one driver had a BAC of 0.8% or above
  • 11,773 people were killed nationally in accidents where at least one driver had a BAC of 0.8% or above
  • 2,072 people were killed nationally in accidents where at least one driver had a BAC between 0.01% and 0.07%
  • 13,846 total deaths were caused nationally where at least one driver had a BAC of 0.01% or above

Rudolf the Red Nose Terrorist

Rudolf lived in a southern town in Texas. Though he lived with his mother most of his life, she never payed much attention to him and always passed the time with her friends. As the years passed, Rudolf started acting like a misogynist person. One day when he was 21 years old, he decided to release some of his anger by blowing up a mall with a pernicious C-4 compact bomb. While trying to leave the scene, he was caught by police patrols and locked in jail. He sat in a corner and dozed off. In his dream, hes mother appeared.

Mom- Rudolf, what have you done?!

Rudolf- I did what i had to do, mom.

M- What are you talking about?! You murdered a lot of people. What could have possibly been your reason?!

R- I just wanted to get your attention. Every time I needed you, you preferred going shopping with your friends.

M- That doesn't justify your actions. What you did was very detrimental to both the people inside the mall and their family.

R- Stop blaming me! If you had shown some affection towards me, I wouldn't have done this.

M- Rudolf, wake up! You are already 21 years old. Take responsibility for your actions. Wake up!

Cop 1: Wake up Rudolf. Wake up!

R- Huh? What? Where? What do you want?

Cop 1: We received a call from the hospital, your mom was in the mall during the explosion.

R- But she told me she went home to take a nap.

Cop 2: Sir, we just received another call from the hospital. Rudolf's mom was badly injured.

R- How badly?!

Cop 2: She was able to evade the primary blast, but she took fervent burns to the body and falling debris paralyzed her.

R- Will she be alright?

Cop 2: They called to inform that she passed away a few minutes ago.

Cop 1: Rudolf, you murdered your mother.

R- Nooo! Why? Why was I such an idiot!

*During our life, we encounter many situations that provoke certain feelings, feelings that we must keep in constant check and control so that we do not act irrationally. Though Rudolf's case was an extreme one, there are in fact people around the world who do not have the ability to control their emotions, and indeed sometimes go to extreme methods of releasing them hoping that those negative feelings will fade away. After they have acted irrationally, they must deal with the consequences, and in the end they feel sorry for acting in such an inappropriate way.

My Mid-Evil Life, in a Medieval Time!

How would my life be in another era? First, I need to chose an era that I would want to live in. The first thought that immediately popped up in my mind was the Medieval era, a jaunty era known for its' nitty-gritty inventions created by savvy people. Hypothetically speaking, my life would begin as a normal peasant child, then I would grow to be a strong and astute soldier, and finally end impersonating a king to satisfy my heinous need for power.

Praise You In the Storm

Music is a very powerful way of expressing one's most inner and deep feelings. There are so many songs that can relate to each and everyone of the feelings one can think of, and they can all be expressed in an innumerable amount of ways. For example, if I'm in a joyful mood, I listen to music by Jesus Culture, like: "Where You Go I Go", "Happy Day", and "Your Love Never Fails". Though I like these songs, my favorite songs are those that bring hope, inspiration and peace to my soul. The song that does this is called, "Praise You in the Storm" by Casting Crowns.

"Praise You in the Storm" is a song that describes how a person is passing through a hard time in their life. It describes how he cries out for God's mercy and love. It enunciates that the person feels he can't hear God's response to his cry because the circumstances seem too difficult and only seem to get worse. The song expresses that even though sometimes one can fail and get frustrated by the situation, God gives them the strength to keep moving on. So they have learned to trust in God no matter how big or how difficult a problem may seem,, because they know that without God it will only get worse.

I chose this song because there have been many moments in my life when I've felt I don't have enough strength to overcome difficult situations that present themselves. Each time this happens, I decide to put my trust and faith in God. This I do hoping that God will come to my rescue and save me from the storm I'm in. Though sometimes I get impatient and lose that hope I had entrusted in God, I freely lay down my guns and listen to the song's message. Once the song begins playing, I feel an immediate sense of of hope and peace. I regain my strength and patience, and continue to wait for the time when God will extend his mercy and love over me, and free me from the situation I'm passing through.

To give an extremely short conclusion, if you ever feel you are alone, depressed, or just sad, and you need words of consolation, I urge you to listen to this song. I urge you to sing this song from the top of your lungs, and I promise that those negative feelings will cease to exist.

Being a Girl is F'awesome!

Ever wondered how a girl lives her day to day life? I've been asked to think, how I would be, if I were to live one day of my life as a human of the female specimen. I decided that I would first go to the beauty salon, then go shopping at the mall and finally spend some time with my girlfriends.

Is our sexuality a source or a result of power?

Prejudice by Gender:
-gender
-males=dominant (alpha male)
-limits females power
-abuse of power by men
-sexual harassment

Intro:
-How does prejudice by gender affect the amount of power you have or can have?

Body:
-Gives men authority over women
-Limits the opportunities women may have
-How men abuse the power acquired by prejudice to demean the importance of women

Conclusion:

-Because of the prejudice by gender that exists in our society, males are given more power over females, power which is sometimes misused and abused.

Am I The One You're Looking For?

My name is Elí S. Montoyo Rosario and I'm 17 years old. This is my first time creating a blog, so I really don't know how to use it and if it weren't for my sister, Daisy, it would have taken me a lot of time to get it how I want it to be. I guess I should start with my hobbies. If I'm in my house and I have nothing to do, I usually get on the computer and play online games with my friends. Once I'm done with that I may begin playing instruments such as: the guitar, the drums, or the piano, though I sometimes prefer reading instead ("The Hunger Games" is my favorite book so far). Besides reading and playing, I also like to listen to music I have in my iPod or random music using Pandora. My favorite genres are rock ("Jesus Culture" is my favorite band), and classical music. I've been told I'm a great singer and that I should participate in Talent Shows and other activities, but the truth is that I do not like singing in activities unrelated to church, though you might find me singing randomly at school. Another thing you should know is that I'm a very reserved, kept to myself person, but as soon as you get to know me, I'm a nice person to hang around with. Also, and the most important thing you should know about me, emphasis on SHOULD, is that I'm a super Star Wars fan and that I sleep with my Yoda plush almost every night (not really :'( ).
Before I finish this post, I want to give a quick shout out to my best friends Jamilisse and Miguel, and to all my other friends. Love You ALL! And remember: "Never Give Up On Yourself".
